    Travel Tips
Whether you're an experienced traveler or you're planning your first trip, we know that making any big move can be a bit overwhelming. What should you bring? Who do you need to call?

So, our experts have put together some suggestions to help make your next travel assignment a little bit easier. Feel free to print this page so you can refer to it any time before and during your assignment.

Ten Great Tips For Any Travel Assignment:
    1. Make a checklist of what you plan to bring; it'll keep you from forgetting things at the last minute.
    2. Have your mail forwarded to where you'll be staying. Suspend your newspaper delivery if necessary.
    3. Don't forget your prescription medicines or contact lenses and solutions. Make sure you have enough to get you through the assignment or get prescription refills as necessary.
    4. Pack as light as you can. You can always send for more of your things after you get settled in to your new place.
    5. Ask your recruiter what your apartment will be furnished with and what it won't. Will it have a vacuum? A washer/dryer? Microwave? TV?
    6. Here are some things you may not have thought of: can opener, corkscrew, light bulbs, laundry basket, hair dryer, blender, toaster, VCR, vacuum, PC, portable radio, extra eyeglasses, clock radio, camera, camcorder, umbrella.
    7. Bring some decorative items to make your house more 'homey', like photos, scented candles, plants or your favorite novels.
    8. Make arrangements to pick up your house keys when you arrive. Also, arrange for your cable and other utilities to be turned on in time for your arrival. When you get there, check out your apartment and report any problems as soon as possible.
    9. If you're driving, have your car's oil changed and check your tire pressure. Make sure you have the basics in your trunk: jumper cables, reflectors, flashlight and first aid kit. If you don't belong to an auto club, now's the time to join. Also make sure you have a cell phone handy in case of emergencies. Lastly, be sure to tell a friend or relative what your travel plans are, including your itinerary.
    10. Remember to have fun! Spend some time taking in the sights and soaking up the local culture. Looking for things to do? Consult the local newspaper, our online Travel Guide directory or ask other staff members what people do for fun in your new hometown.
